Never thought I would actually be making this move, but after trying (twice) to build a YouTube channel, it appears that's just not in the cards for me. If anything, I've found more opportunities to create fun, short form content on TikTok where I can do more in less time and without wasting all day editing.
The YT algorithm, at this point, actively suppresses all creator content unless the video is topical to popular interests. In the past several months I've only received a total of 10-20-ish views on any given video where I spent at least a few days between shooting the video and editing it. Meanwhile, on TikTok I spent about 1 hour for capturing and clean-up, and within 24 hours I find myself garnering at LEAST 100 views, but often times much more than that. So, going forward, I'm halting all content on my YT channel. I'm probably not going to delete it, yet. But I'm not seeing any kind of future on that platform in its current state. TikTok is much easier, now that I've figured out the basics, and much more engaging. I'm actually having a lot of fun making content for it, too! Who knew? Comments are closed.
